Welcome in! I can't wait to get to know you. But first, let me tell you some more about myself...

My name is Amanda and I am a board certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I have worked in healthcare for the past 7 years and initially discovered my passion for serving others as a transplant nurse.

I love to work with clients to  identify what their goals are in treatment, in therapy, and in life and then make a plan to help achieve those goals. I enjoy helping people learn about psychiatric disorders, fully comprehend the "why" behind their medications, and teach coping skills, boundaries, and communication in therapy sessions. We all have difficulties in life we are trying to overcome, and having a partner can be the thing that makes the difference when it comes to success.

About Me

Compassionate

At the heart of the therapeutic relationship is the ability to form a bond with someone who makes you feel safe, heard, and valued. That is my entire purpose in what I do. I truly love and care for all people and my goal in life is to help everyone become the person that they strive to be.

Christian

I discovered Christ later in life after experiencing a very dark and difficult time. I believe God has led me to this calling of serving others and being a shepherd to those who are lost. While I will never push my beliefs on others, my Christian morals keep me rooted in the belief that each human life is a precious image of our maker.

Goofball

I am also incredibly silly and goofy. I enjoy using humor as a coping mechanism and encourage it in my clients. I love nature, animals, and especially the ocean. I also love Orlando theme park culture and believe we could all use a little extra "magic" in our daily lives.

Treatment Approaches

Psychotherapy

Therapy is so much more than sitting on a couch and divulging your deepest, darkest secrets. It's having someone to "get it all out" to, it's learning to retrain our brains,  teaching coping skills, boundaries, and improving communication. Therapy is the perfect complement to medications for the best long-term treatment outcomes.

Medications

Medications can help regain our ability to function each day, especially while we undergo the process of therapeutic cognitive restructuring. They can help relieve anxiety, reduce symptoms of depression, manage panic attacks, improve focus, increase energy, and help you regain control of your ability to get through each day.

Lifestyle

Not enough focus is given to the power of lifestyle on the management of mental health symptoms. The extent of the brain-gut connection is still unknown, but the power of nutrition should not be underestimated. Physical activity is another underutilized tool that can be as effective as medications and therapy. Supplements can also be a useful alternative to anyone who is nervous when it comes to medications.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness can be achieved through a variety of methods including meditation, yoga, or prayer. Learning to slow down to connect with the world around you and appreciate the goodness in life is something that you can learn to incorporate into your daily routine. By grounding ourselves and taking time to "smell the flowers," we can overcome racing thoughts, negativity, and dissipate anxiety.
